I’m Alastair Anderson. I craft software and write about technology.
Crafting high-quality software that engages users has been a driving force throughout my life. From the initial spark of curiosity when I wrote my first program in BASIC on a ZX Spectrum at age seven, to my ongoing dedication to user experience, I strive to create software that seamlessly integrates into users' lives, enhancing their experiences and making their daily tasks easier and more enjoyable.
The journey to becoming a software developer has been both challenging and rewarding. With a strong sense of determination and a passion for technology, I earned my BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering at the University of Glasgow. My entrepreneurial spirit and love for creating innovative solutions have driven me to constantly seek new challenges and opportunities in the field.
Travel has always been a significant part of my life, particularly my explorations across Asia. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the serene beaches of Thailand, these experiences have broadened my horizons and enriched my perspective. My fascination with Japanese culture has even inspired me to learn the language. These adventures have taught me to appreciate diverse viewpoints and have enhanced my creativity and adaptability.
Currently, I am fortunate to be working at Microsoft, where I bring my entrepreneurial mindset to the forefront. My focus remains on finding and improving the user experience of software solutions, ensuring they are intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable. As I continue to grow and evolve in my career, I am committed to pushing the boundaries of what great software can achieve and delivering products that people love to use.
